Our Story
Founded in 2023, Act4Kids Nevada is a nonprofit organization that advocates for comprehensive healthcare for all of Nevada’s children. Grassroots collaboration brought our board of parents, advocates, and healthcare providers together to elevate and center patient and caregiver voices. Their shared professional and personal experiences in the healthcare system are what motivates our work.
Our Work
Our state has many wonderful providers, but they are operating in a disjointed, underfunded, and under resourced system. Every year, Nevada families face difficult decisions regarding their children’s healthcare. Those who have the finances, childcare, employment, and insurance resources may travel out-of-state for their child’s care. The families without this privilege struggle to find the right care, coordinate information between providers, and maintain their child’s overall wellbeing.
The cornerstone of our efforts is providing peer support and education to families across Nevada. Informed and empowered family units are an incredible advocacy force, for both their own children and the greater needs in our state. Each of our community partnerships, as well as our participation in policy work, honor and elevate the patient and family voice.
Our Impact
Empathy. Experience. Energy.
In its first year, Act4Kids Nevada has made remarkable progress. With 25 community partners, 50 healthcare access surveys completed, and presentations given at 3 major healthcare conferences, we are just getting started. Our 2024 Impact Report is now available.
